Malik Rofidi for Selby and Ainsty General Election 2019
Local Labour Councillor Malik Rofidi has launched his campaign to become the Selby and Ainsty MP in the coming General Election.
Malik, who is also the current Mayor of Selby, lives in the town, having previously lived in nearby Snaith and Riccall.
He works as a CAD technician and campaigns regularly with the Labour Party outside of work, recently campaigning to retain Selby’s Crown Post Office in Micklegate.
Speaking after the selection, Malik said: “I really want to improve the lives of all the people in this constituency.”
“For years people have been working hard and feeling no better off; they have seen their services cut and people around them struggle. Things need to change. As your MP I will work tirelessly for such changes.
Malik said: “Unfortunately the MP for the last few years has voted directly and consistently against the interests of his constituents, particularly voting through cuts to local government which has been felt deeply in our area.”
And he added: “A Labour Government will ensure investment in our public services, improvements to our local transport system, and the start of a Green Industrial Revolution to transform all of our lives for the better.”
