Selby and Ainsty Labour candidate, Malik Rofidi, was out and about today knocking on doors in Barlby.
Working in a team of Labour Party members, he said afterwards: “Activists found that for many people, the number one priority seemed to be retaining the NHS as a health service free at the point of use.
“Labour is committed, as always to protecting our National Health Service from the Tories, who seem to think it’s all about wealth for a few, not health for us all.”
The Labour team also noted education was a popular topic on the doorsteps, and, of course, Brexit. One formerly Tory voter told us the government’s handling of Brexit was “a disgrace”.
”We’ve become the laughing stock of Europe,” he said, taking our leaflets to read.
Malik said after the session: “Another busy day campaigning.
“Thanks to all residents we spoke to. I’m sorry if we missed you! And thanks to all who came out canvassing. Lovely to have some young ones with us, too.
And he added: “Labour truly have the policies to improve the lives of thousands of people in our area and transform our society. I want to give the people around me the representation they deserve.
“Please vote Malik Rofidi on 12th December.”
