The deadline to register for voting in the General Election is fast approaching.
Labour candidate Malik Rofidi said: “I know that many, especially young people, may not be registered to vote in Selby and Ainsty.
“Your voice is valuable and your vote will make a difference.
“The Tories have let this area slide over the last nine years. Their policies have been disastrous for local families. Please use your vote to tell them this is not acceptable, and endorse Labour’s policies for real change.”
The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday 26th November.
This is the most important election in a generation and it’s vital that we all have a say! It only takes five minutes, here’s the link: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
If you’re eligible to vote at two addresses (if you’re a student), you should register at both. You can find out where is best to vote here: https://univotes.co.uk/
If you won’t be at the address you wish to vote at on 12th December, there’s still time to register for a postal vote . It’s also a good idea to do this if you’re working shifts and aren’t sure whether you’ll be able to get to the polling station on the day. Or even if you could have bad weather You just have to fill out a short form and send it to the council: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/apply-for-a-postal-vote
Thanks so much for reading this and please pass it on (C+P if you like) to your friends and family! If you want any more info about the election I’ll try to help. Getting people registered is really important!
